1 Week Down, 2 To Go!!

Today, was a great day at the school! We started our writing project with a group of girls in grades 4-7. These girls have been especially selected by their teachers because they show extra potential of succeeding and/or the potential of having to drop out of school. I feel very fortunate to be working with this group of girls. I am working with a girl in grade 6. She is so excited about reading and does an excellent job of it too! We all take turns observing in different grade levels throughout each day.
After school, we got to meet a friend of Patti's (our group leader), Seso, and see his house which is right behind the school. It was awesome to see an actual Malawian home and he was so incredibly excited to meet all of us. He even took a few minutes to pray with us, which was a very very humbling experience having someone thank god that we were there with him and working at the school with the children.
A few of us also took the time to go over to a seamstress's house, who lives next door, and she took our measurements so that she could make some clothing out of this gorgeous fabric we got from the market in downtown Zomba.

Tonight, we are packing and getting ready to go on our safari this weekend! So, you will probably not hear from us again until Sunday! Thanks for following along with our journey! -Valerie
